Introduction

Sapient Social & Environmental Enterprises complies with the Data protection laws in the Netherlands and in the EU, that is the General Data Protection Regulations 2016/679 (GDPR). We are fully committed to safeguarding the privacy and data of our customers.

This policy describes how this personal data must be collected, handled, and stored to meet Sapient SEE’s data protection standards.
 

Scope
This privacy policy applies to Food Circle’s website and domains. It is not applicable to third party applications, websites, products, services or platforms that might be accessed through non Food Circle links that we might provide to you. These websites are used and operated independently from us and they should have their own privacy policy.  We do not govern any data provided by you on these websites. Therefore, we cannot accept liability for the actions of these independent sites regarding the data collection process.
 

What data do we collect:

• Account information such as email address, name and password when signing up on the website 

• Name, email and phone number when applying  for an internship within the organization

• Email, name, address and card information when purchasing something from the website
   

Reasons For Data Collection
Food Circle collects and uses personal data with the users consent to provide, maintain and develop products and services and for their improvement.

The purposes might include but not only resume to:

•  fulfillment of orders 

• providing customers with technical and customer support

• to investigate and prevent security incidents such as hacks and attacks

Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media:
Usually, platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram use cookies in order to collect information about your browsing and to allow your device to be recognised for future retargeting. We do not use cookies on our website but these platforms do.

 

The cookies from them enable us to present you with information regarding our news, articles, products, services, etc. by recognising your device.

6 Principles about Personal Data which shall be abided by according to the GDPR are that:

1. Personal Data (including email address and name and surname, home address, banking details amongst others) must be processed fairly, lawfully and in a transparent manner in relation to the data subject.

2. Personal Data is collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes and not further processed for other purposes incompatible with those purposes.

3. Personal is adequate, relevant, and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purpose for which data is processed.

4. Personal Data is accurate and where necessary, kept up to date.

5. Personal Data is kept in a form that permits identification of data subjects for no longer than is necessary for the purpose for which data is processed; and that

6. Personal Data is processed in a way that ensures appropriate security of the personal data including protection against accidental loss, destruction, or damage.

 

Sapient SEE shall be obliged to share confidential information without authorization from the person who provided it, or to whom it relates, if it is in the public interest. That is when:

1. it is to prevent a crime from being committed or to intervene where one may have been, or to prevent harm to a child or adult; or

2. not sharing it could be worse than the outcome of having shared it.

Data Storage

These rules describe how and where data should be safely stored. Questions about storing data safely can be directed to Sapient SEE (Food Circle).

When data is stored on paper, it should be kept in a secure place where unauthorized people cannot see it.

 

When data is stored electronically, it must be protected from unauthorized access, accidental deletion and malicious hacking attempts:

• Data should be protected by strong passwords that are changed regularly and never shared between employees.

• Data should only be stored on designated drives and servers and should only be uploaded to an approved cloud computing service.

• Data should be backed up frequently. Those backups should be tested regularly, in line with the organization’s standard backup procedures.

• All servers and computers containing data should be protected by approved security software and a firewall.

• All areas of our website use SSL encryption.

• Ask what information Sapient SEE holds about them and why

• Ask how to gain access to it

• Be informed how to keep it up to date

• Be informed how Sapient SEE is meeting its data protection obligations
