In the USA, the trend of serving massive amount of food is growing. While European eateries are
increasing their portions slowly, they still lag behind American ones.
The point is that bigger is not better. Better is better. Sustainable food is better. In the US, household
refrigerators are massive despite household size shrunken in the last five years; as a consequence, it leads to
buying more unnecessary food.
Another matter is that shopping carts in supermarkets have grown 20% in the last 20 years, and most of
shopping baskets are on wheels. Moreover, she points out that quantity discounts are “food waste trap[s]”
